What Is Earlobe Repair?
In some pierced ears, the piercing area of the ear can enlarge with time. Depending on the deformity, reconstruction can take different forms. In all methods, the skin lining the tear is removed and the new freshened wound is reapproximated.
FAQs
What are the pre care instructions for the earlobe repair procedure?
We will prescribe an oral antibiotic, which is started 1 day before your procedure. Avoid blood thinners when possible starting 2 weeks prior to surgery.
How much discomfort can I expect?
There is minimal if any discomfort with this treatment. Local anesthesia is all that is used. If you are extremely anxious, we can prescribe anti-anxiety medication. Pain usually is described as moderate for the first 24 hours. This can easily be controlled with cool compresses and pain medications that we will prescribe for you (if needed).
What will be my downtime?
Swelling and redness quickly disappear within a matter of days. Plan on a 7 to 14 day healing time.
What about the post-op care?
It is important to keep the incision site dry for 48 hours and to use a topical ointment such as Vaseline or Aquaphor™ as directed.
