Meet Dr. Harvey

Dr. David Harvey is board-certified in Micrographic and Dermatologic Surgery, the first group of dermatologic surgeons in the country to achieve this designation. He has been chosen as one of Atlanta’s “Top Docs” for the past three years. Dr. Harvey has served as past president for both the Georgia and Florida Society of Dermatology and Dermatological Surgery societies. He currently serves as an adjunct assistant professor at the Emory School of Medicine where he instructs dermatology residents and medical students.

Dr. Harvey completed medical school at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Afterwards, he finished a primary care internal medicine residency at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry followed by a dermatology residency at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He is board-certified in both Dermatology and Internal Medicine. In 2010, he completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Procedural Dermatology (Mohs Surgery) at the University of Texas-Southwestern in Dallas. Currently, Dr Harvey maintains hospital privileges at Piedmont Newnan & Fayette Hospitals where he is an active staff member.

With over 25 years of experience in cosmetic and dermatologic surgery. Dr. Harvey’s expertise lies in the field of Mohs Micrographic Surgery, dermatoplastic surgery, laser surgery, and eyelid reconstruction. He has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications in the field of skin cancer, cosmetic dermatology, aging skin, and eyelid surgery. He is currently available to see appointments Monday through Friday at either one of our Newnan or Lagrange offices.

About Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery Board Certification

Dr. Harvey passed the ABD’s 2021 Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery Subspecialty Certification Examination on October 4, 2021.

A certification in this subspecialty demonstrates that our practice meets the high standards of knowledge and skill in Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery and that we are dedicated to lifelong learning in the field so that we can best serve our patients. Our practice has the additional distinction of being among the first to achieve certification in the MDS Subspecialty.
