FAQs
What is the advantage of this treatment?
In the past, the only laser that was effective for wrinkle reduction was the CO2 carbon dioxide laser (an ablative laser). This treatment requires 10 days of healing and causes some discomfort for the patient. Recent research has shown that one only has to gently stimulate the superficial portion of the skin to achieve an effective cosmetic result. Without the need for intensive peeling or general anesthesia, the procedure is inherently safer.
How long does the skin take to recover?
This procedure has “little or no downtime” associated with it- meaning that patients can go to work and resume their normal daily lifestyle within a matter of hours.
What are some of the side effects from the procedure?
After treatment, a mild sunburn like reaction may occur. If “ALA” is used, your skin may be photosensitive for 48 to 72 hours so it is important to stay out of the sun during this time. When treating skin growths or brown spots, redness and crusting can take 5 to 7 days to resolve.
How many treatments are requried?
On average, three to five treatment sessions are required every four to six weeks to achieve a response. Results can be further optimized with the use of neurotoxin or filler therapy.
